MilkoTester Lite or Lactoscan: what to choose for milk control
A search for “Lactoscan” often describes a task rather than loyalty to one brand: fast milk checks on a farm, at intake or in a small laboratory. MilkoTester Lite can be compared with instruments in this class, but the choice should follow the matrices, working range, calibrations and the decision made from the result. This guide explains the technical data, limitations and the configuration supplied and supported by LabLog in Uzbekistan.

In short
The 9 parameters reported by the instrument
The base MilkoTester Lite configuration reports fat, SNF, density, protein, lactose, salts, added water, sample temperature and freezing point. A typical result takes about 60 seconds. Manual ranges are: fat 0–25%, SNF 3–15%, density 1015–1040 kg/m³, protein 2–7%, lactose 0.01–6%, salts 0.4–1.5%, added water 0–70%, temperature 1–40°C and freezing point from −0.3 to −0.7°C. pH is not included in the configuration supplied by LabLog.
What the ultrasonic method means
The instrument does not replace every reference laboratory method with a separate direct measurement. It estimates composition from the physical properties of the sample and the selected calibration, so the correct matrix and verification on local milk are essential. Added water is calculated using freezing-point information and should be treated as a screening signal, not standalone proof of adulteration.
Sample, measurement and throughput
About 25 ml of milk is required. Mix without foaming, remove visible particles and bring the sample into the allowed temperature range. The manual recommends analysing milk at 5–35°C; cream above 10% fat is first warmed to 42–43°C and cooled to 25–30°C. After cleaning, a suspicious first result should be repeated rather than accepted automatically. Including routine rinsing, throughput is approximately 50 samples per hour.
Calibration matters more than the instrument name
MilkoTester Lite has three calibration channels. The current LabLog configuration covers cow milk, UHT milk and whey; a different matrix set must be agreed before supply. Before routine use, verify the instrument on representative local samples across the working range against applicable reference methods. A correction should not be based on one sample: the manual recommends at least three samples with known values and repeated measurements.
RU / UZ, Wi-Fi and result handling
The LabLog-supplied version includes Russian and Uzbek localisation, Wi-Fi and automated result transfer. This reduces manual transcription and makes daily operator work easier. The instrument also stores up to 50 results and supports computer and printer connections depending on configuration. Before purchase, we demonstrate the actual data workflow so that no unsupported integration is promised for the customer’s system.
Cleaning, consumables and service
Between measurements, rinse the system with clean water at 45–50°C. At the end of the day use Master Daily; periodically use Master Weekly, followed by a water rinse. A starter set is included with the instrument, while consumables and spare parts are stocked by LabLog. LabLog provides commissioning, training, warranty and ongoing service within Uzbekistan. The supplied instrument carries a one-year warranty.
When to choose MilkoTester Lite—and when FOSS fits better
MilkoTester Lite fits rapid routine raw-milk checks, intake and smaller sample flows when its calibration has been verified for the matrix. For deeper dairy-plant analysis, broader product coverage, recipe management and higher reproducibility requirements, consider the FOSS MilkoScan Mars or MilkoScan FT3 FTIR systems. Customers can bring their own samples to the LabLog showroom and verify the workflow before purchase.
FAQ
FAQ
Is MilkoTester Lite a complete replacement for Lactoscan?+
Not automatically. It addresses the same class of tasks, but the actual parameters, ranges, calibrations, throughput, data workflow and service must be compared. LabLog offers sample testing before selection.
Which parameters are in the base configuration?+
Fat, SNF, density, protein, lactose, salts, added water, temperature and freezing point. pH is not included in the LabLog-supplied configuration.
Does the instrument prove added water without error?+
No. The calculation helps flag a suspicious sample, but the conclusion requires repetition, correct calibration, an authentic herd reference sample and, where needed, a reference method.
Are Russian and Uzbek available?+
Yes. The LabLog configuration includes Russian and Uzbek localisation; we verify the interface and train operators before handover.
Can the instrument be seen before purchase?+
Yes. MilkoTester Lite is in stock and available for demonstration at the LabLog showroom in Tashkent. Arrange the time in advance and bring representative samples.
